  SoCon Football Week 3 Recap Chattanooga improved to 25-25 all-time in SoCon openers, winning its eighth-straight lid-lifter (Photo courtesy of UTC athletics) SoCon Football took another turn in week three, as Chattanooga got its league campaign underway with a key matchup against Wofford, and having lost two straight games after opening the season with a 24-10 win at West Georgia, most had forgotten about tjhe Mocs, at least temporarily anyway. On Saturday evening in its SoCon opener against Wofford, the Mocs made sure that everyone had their proverbial memory jogged that Chattanooga was indeed a SoCon title contender by taking down the Terriers, 41-7, in a game that was pivotal for both teams. For Chattanooga, a third-straight loss could have been detrimental to the season, especially to overall team morale and confidence.  The win by the Mocs helped Chattanooga avenge what was a 35-13 loss at Wofford to close out the 2025 regular-season. GREENVILLE, S.C.--Twenty-fourth ranked Furman found Saturday night's 20-17 loss to No. 16 South Carolina State frustrating for two reasons. One because SC State did a lot of the frustrating on the defensive side of the ball, while the other frustrating part of the game for the Paladins was some of it was self-inflicted, whether it was penalties or six dropped passes. The crowd was what you'd normally expect for a South Carolina State-Furman game, with 9,217 fans in attendance at Paladin Stadium, including a couple of thousand from Orangeburg--band included. It was a tremendous FCS atmosphere, which is one of the great things about SoCon teams playing HBCU programs--especially ones with a winning tradition like SCSU has--is that they bring the atmosphere with them depending on proximity.  My guess is that the Bulldogs will remain towards the top of the polls for the rest of the season, and one look at the Bulldogs' remaining schedule should see them not face the type of test...

WEEK 3 OVERVIEW AND PREVIEWS For the first time in the young season, we have a lighter schedule on the docket to deal with heading into week three, with The Citadel, Tennessee Tech. and Samford all having the week off. Chattanooga (1-2, 0-0 SoCon) will host its first Southern Conference game of the season, as the Mocs will welcome Wofford (2-1, 1-0 SoCon) Saturday evening for a Southern Conference tilt, with kickoff for that contest slated for 6 p.m. EST.  It will mark the 33rd all-time clash between the Terriers and Mocs, with the series all tied, 16-16.  Wofford was able to snap a five-game losing streak in the series against the Terriers by claiming a 35-13 victory at Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg. The game between the Mocs and Terriers will be the lone SoCon tilt of the entire weekend.
