Setting The Scene for Week One in SoCon Football Season No. 88 on the Southern Conference football officially gets underway Thursday night, with both Chattanooga and Furman taking part in a pair of games, however, a large portion of the league's opening week slate will take place on Saturday, and that will include the "Game of the Week" in the league, which will be the only league matchup of the weekend known simply as the "Big Dog Bowl" when The Citadel Bulldogs travel to Spartanburg to take on Wofford. The Bulldogs and Terriers were picked seventh and ninth, respectively in the preseason polls. Both have hopes of well exceeding those lowered expectations that the coaches' poll has them picked to finish this fall.
